NEWS
and a desire to make a TV program about drummers for drummers.
NBD is a non profit, public access program and is an opportunity for
drummers to get some well deserved exposure.
Just recently I have posted short quicktime clips,
on the PHOTO page. Each clip is a segment taken directly from one of my programs.
I had permision to video tape and interview Daniel while he was in 3Doors Down. This video is a quick sound check I was able to
tape. Unfortunately the interview was lost, and this clip is all I have.
Recently I taped a new show with Brannon from the band Bridge and David and Marcella from the band NO1UNO.
This program focusses a little more on the Charlotte music scene and still has some great drumming with in it.
Keep a look out for this show, it will be airing in December.
Chris gives a great explanation on how to mic a bass drum.
This turned out to be a great interview and it will be aired by the holidays...I hope.
One of these programs will inlcude Phil Disher who plays with his band Baleen.
Baleen.
Phil and I discussed his use of loops while playing live.
Phil also goes into some of the recording process and structure from his band.
Planeside.
Planeside are from New York and are a great band.I was able to tape them out
at the Money in Rock hill. Craig and the band will be featured in my next episode of NBD.
Yates Dew.
NBD has a few big things in the works for new shows with some very influential drummers.
Here it is, the BIG news that I promised in my last update:
I just finished tapeing an interview with world renowned percussionist Jim Brock.
Jim Brock.
Jim and I talked about everything from his early begginings as a drummer to his new DVD.
Jim also showed me a few things on one of the unique percussion instruments he plays, which
i got to try my hand at.
Alan Cage-Quick Sand. Probably the most influential drummer of the 90's.
Jimmy Chamberlin-Smashing Pumkins.Gish...over the top, but awesome drumming.
Chad Kent-Atom Ship. This guy puts any metal drummer to shame.
Macky-Cro Mags, Ice Men,and Bad Brains. One of the first and best hardcore drummers.
Keith Moon-The Who. No need for explanation.
Matt Johnson-Jeff Buckley Grace LP. The drum work on Dream Brother is amazing.
Anthony Johnson-24-7SPYZ. Gumbo Millennium was a great album with hard hitting, inspiring drumming.
John Theodore- Mars Volta. If the Mars Volta come to town I have to interview this guy.
The drumming on this album is in the pocket and in your face.
John Ehlers- Yes that's me. I rock!!!! Actually I should be at the top of this list.
Earl Hudson- Bad Brains. His best work....I Against I. My favorite album.
That's all for now, I will be up dating this list every few weeks. E mail me if you have any suggestions.
